Srinagar, Jan 22 (KNO): Students affected by the withdrawal of the letter of permission for the MBBS course at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence (SMVDIME) will now be accommodated in seven newly established Government Medical Colleges of Jammu & Kashmir.
According to a notification issued by the Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE),a copy of which is in possession of news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) 50 supernumerary seats have been created for SMVDIME students across these colleges. Of these, eight seats have been allotted to GMC Anantnag, while seven seats each have been allotted to GMC Baramulla, GMC Doda, GMC Handwara, GMC Kathua, GMC Rajouri, and GMC Udhampur.
The BOPEE has announced that the physical round of counselling for these students will be conducted on January 24 at 11:00 AM, the notification reads.
Meanwhile in a post on X, the chief minister’s office said that the issue of admission to MBBS students of SMVDIME has been resolved.
“The Government has resolved the college allocation issue for selected MBBS candidates of SMVD college. With BOPEE now issuing counselling schedule, students can move ahead with their students,” reads the post—(KNO)
